Raising Awareness for GBS-CIDP
~Hebrews 12:1~
"Let us run with perseverance the race that is before us"
The reason for Johnny's journey is to raise awareness of GBS/CIDP, a
rare disorder of the body's immune system that attacks the peripheral
nerves. This rare condition occurs in only one or two per 100,000 people, one of whom is
Johnny's Mother. Sally Warnshuis recently fell victim to the disease. Sally is still in recovery and currently living in Redding CA. Sally is so proud of her son, and supportive of his journey for the cause.
This
event coupled with the high unemployment rate this country is
suffering, and Johnny's inability to find work, drove him to do
something...anything. After some thought Johnny decided that if he was
to help his mother and others with this disease, he would have to do something out
of the ordinary.
Until he completes his journey he realizes he will be at
the mercy of God and the reliance of the wonderful people of the United States of America. With help from the hard working, God fearing, ''meat and potatoes, corn
fed Americans’' that make this country GREAT. If this is you then we encourage you to get involved and help Johnny help others.
Johnny is proud to be using a rescue, Sandy,who was donated by Homer Fagan of Oak Run, CA where he runs a horse rescue operation. "Sandy is the Star of this Mission, having traveled this whole journey by Johnny's side"
Traveling
across the United States on horseback is nothing new, but the fact remains that it
has always been difficult and dangerous. People have even lost
their lives doing so. But now with all the fences, private properties,
new laws, high speed traffic, and the restrictions of hunting for what
you need to survive it’s an even a more arduous task.
Viewers can follow Johnny on his trek from California to New York and help him by contributing to his journey and/or his cause.
He
has already met so many kind people, has been in newspapers, had radio
interviews and met so many hardworking Americans on the side of small,
and large towns alike who have never heard of GBS/CIDP. In fact approximately 90% of people he has spoken to have never
heard of it. It isn't well known, but the Flu vaccine is thought to be a trigger of this disease. And having had the flu shot just a week before, Johnny feels strongly Sally's infection was triggered this way. Please go to www.gbs-cidp.org for more information!! Awareness of these diseases/illnesses are so important to him,
that he has dedicated more than a year of his life to tell people, teach
people and let them know about these deadly diseases/illnesses.
Along the way Johnny has had PLENTY of time to think and reflect on the many heart felt stories others have shared. He has seen how most of us have been affected in some way by illness and disease on so many different levels. Although some more rare than others; still the mental, emotional, physical, and financial challenges remain. Although his main goal is to spread awareness of GBS/CIDP , he feels it's necessary to talk about and share the struggles and triumphs of others~ As most of us have faced cancer in some way, Johnny would like to share donations with The John Wayne Cancer Institute and St Jude Children's Research Hospital as you see on our donations page, as well as bring awareness to other tragic diseases .
We have added a new page to highlight some of these illnesses and diseases, and Hospitals dedicated to the cure and treatment, Including but not limited to Poly Cystic Kidney Disease, Autism, Aplastic Anemia and Leukemia....
If you or someone you know suffer from a rare disorder, and you see him near you or in your town,
please go talk with him, make him aware of it. He will add the disease
or illness to the list of them that he rides for and bring awareness to
it.
You are encouraged to look at the Google maps, pictures and videos provided that show Johnny's current location. If you are in the area, Go out and cheer him on!!

this site there are places to donate to Johnny's PayPal account, this money is to assist with keeping
him going. Feed for himself and his horses as well as vet care can be very expensive and
without you and everyone's support, it would be impossible for him to
spread the word and bring awareness to numerous diseases that
inflict so many people worldwide. Or, if you wish to offer a place to

Well here I go again. By the grace of God I will travel on. The love
I've encountered from people so far I can never justify with words. I'm
overwhelmed and totally amazed by the Glory of God.~ JW
~
In a freak horse accident Johnny has dislocated his ankle and broken
his tibia, and fibula. On Tues Aug 14th he underwent surgery to repair
it, gaining two new plates and 15 screws.
~Aug 31~ Johnny's stitches were removed today, and in 4 weeks we will get the yay or nay to ride. Check out our latest blog!
YAAY!! Johnny is back on the trail!!
On Oct 5th Johnny hit the road out of Harrisburg, PA- New Goal: NYC November 10 :)

via Ferry it was late and he rode straight to the stable~ Times Square
watch out, he's headed your way Thursday!!
